Hotel Luminor Sidoarjo

Here we go again! The Luminor hotel group has expanded tremendously over certain region in Indonesia. After its successful opening in Surabaya a couple of years ago, we had another privilege to coorporate with them in this ongoing 15-storey hotel project in Sidoarjo, East Java, Indonesia. he concept was taken from the local heritage folklore. The Kabayan story from native Javanese people living in surrounding area does have particular influence over the stories of how this project started.

We purposely inserted so many traditional values and elements to blend just to show people how good design can be elaborated not just from foreign interference, but also from our local culture and origin and that is one of the best way to preserve the legacy! Have a look at the flowing kites design at the ceiling of the lobby. These are ac- tually made from acrylic pasted with custom sticker design of the Kabayan’s story and how each piece of acrylic carries a story denotes a very unique sensation no other hotel can match. Do you also notice the exclusive mozaic walls at the reception wall? YES, those are the mozaics we imported directly from Thailand, a golden blue tosca mozaic walls with clouds pattern to symbolize the skies and the mythical folklore that wraps up the space. The mozaic has some 3d effect so that donates another depth of the space.

The colour scheme are chosen as dark brown since dark brown is essential to be earthy tones and matches with the local touch. And several other contrasting element of white marble and some stone veneers to soften the combination. Our client was impressed with this project and this is still progressively ongoing till we see how it ends.
